There needs to be greater transparency from the Andrews government regarding the treatment given to underage patients at Melbourne’s major gender clinic, according to the Victorian Shadow Minister for Health Georgie Crozier.
This week, the government said it does not collect data regarding the hormone treatment given to underage children who believe they are “born in the wrong body” at the Royal Children’s Hospital gender clinic.

Interview Victorian Shadow Minister for Heath, Georgie Crozier MP
29 Nov 2019 06:24 PM • Sky News Live, Sydney – hosted by Peta Credlin
Credlin mentions the panel discussion yesterday about the Victorian Government being forced to admit following detailed questioning from Crozier that they have failed to collect the most basic data on children who were treated at the World Children’s Gender Clinic. She notes it comes after a drastic increase in referrals of children to the gender clinic at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Credlin notes statistics last year show there were 269 new referrals, adding it is 1300% higher than in 2012.
Crozier says she just wanted to know the data. She notes the Ministers told her the Department does not hold the data. Credlin notes some adults have issues with their gender identity. She notes the increase is huge. Crozier says it is the government’s responsibility to support the parents and their children and provide them with the best information properly. She states the schools are giving out information about transitioning and referring children to transgender websites. She insists parents have a right to understand what is happening to their children, adding these are sensitive issues.
Credlin mentions interviewing a man raising concerns that there is not enough mental health analysis, diagnosis, and support given for the drugs and the formal process of gender change. Crozier suggests having a pure oversight regarding gender clinics across Australia so that the best practices are undertaken. She says the Minister told her that she was engaging in culture wars. She claims they are hiding the data. She says it is in the best interest of the child. Credlin reports the Vic Premier Daniel Andrews and the Government announced they will pursue a mental health levy. She notes they pay at a Commonwealth level, with the money distributed to the states and territories.
Crozier states there is massive mismanagement of the Victorian Government, citing blowouts on their projects. She mentions the Government had a report on it when Andrews was the Health Minister. She says there is a crisis in health and mental health. She mentions they are the highest taxing state.
