An article today by The Australian reveals the Victorian Government is now providing a breakdown in daily COVID-19 testing by local government areas (LGAs), but the hotspot area of Brimbank – which has over 600 active cases, making it the highest in Melbourne – currently sits at only the sixth top testing site in Victoria.
This raises questions about the true spread of COVID-19 in Melbourne’s northwest and west if testing is not keeping up with the surge in active cases.
I told The Australian I was seriously concerned about the current testing regimen in Victoria. We need to understand the real rate of community transmission, because we could have a much higher rate of positive cases.
