Georgie Crozier was elected as Liberal Member for Southern Metropolitan Region in 2010 and currently holds the position of Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party in the Legislative Council, Shadow Minister for Health, and Shadow Minister for Ambulance Services.
In the previous Baillieu and Napthine Governments she was Chair of the Family and Community Development Committee which undertook the ground breaking Parliamentary Inquiry into Child Abuse by Religious and Other Non-Government Organisations. Georgie tabled the “Betrayal of Trust” Report in the Parliament on November 13, 2013. Under the Napthine Government, Georgie held the position of Parliamentary Secretary for Health.
In 2014 Georgie was appointed as Shadow Minister for Families and Children which included the areas of Child Protection, Community Services, Early Education and Youth Justice. She was also the Shadow Minister for Family Violence and Shadow Minister for Housing.
Georgie grew up in Western Victoria and has lived in her electorate of Southern Metropolitan Region for most of her adult life. Prior to entering Parliament, Georgie spent 25 years working in the private and public sectors in the areas of business, health and health related industries.
A former nurse and midwife, Georgie completed her general nurse training at the Alfred Hospital followed by midwifery training at the Royal Women’s Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing and Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education from Deakin University and a Certificate in Management and Leadership from Swinburne University. Georgie spent 15 years working and developing comprehensive management guidelines in acute care and chronic disease.
