Written on the 29 November 2012
On Thursday 28th of September Georgie attended an Afternoon Teal at the Sissi and Co Café in Malvern for Ovarian Cancer Australia to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research.
The Afternoon Teal was hosted by Federal Member for Higgin’s and ambassador for Ovarian Cancer Australia, Kelly O’Dwyre MP who expressed her pride to be working with Ovarian Cancer.
“I am proud to be working with Ovarian Cancer Australia to raise awareness and much needed funds so that we can not only lift the drastically low survival rate but through more research can also discover the root causes” Ms O’Dwyre said.
Georgie in attendance agreed stating that the “fight against Ovarian Cancer is an important one” and thanked both the Ovarian Cancer Australia for the important work they do and Kelly O’Dwyre for hosting such a successful event in support.
The Deputy Leader of the Federal Liberal Party, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, was also in attendance and addressed the crowd along with ovarian cancer survivor Meghan Speers, who recounted her story of being diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 29.
