Fix gender imbalance in community sport

Five weeks after Bayside Leader launched the Grass Ceiling campaign to get better funding and facilities for girls in community sport, I've called on the Premier Daniel Andrews to lobby for improvements at the October Council of Australian Governments meeting in Canberra.

I've also appealed to State Sports Minister, John Eren to push the issue with Mr Andrews.

Inequity between girls and boys sporting facilities needs reform.

Sport can prevent or reduce health problems such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease and mental problems. We know the benefits so why are we not doing anything further to promote greater participation in sport, especially for girls and women?

In the Bayside area a significant barrier to participation has been identified - and that is a lack of facilities.
