Georgie Attends World Health Day Forum

Recently Georgie attended the Alfred Medical Research Education Precinct (AMREP) World Health Day Forum where she participated in a Panel Discussion with Professor Paul Zimmet from Baker IDI and Associate Professor Greg Johnson from Diabetes Australia. The question for the panel was: ‘What are the three most important lessons for improving the prevention and control of chronic conditions that you would want to convey to the Federal Health Minister for adoption before the next election?’

The audience, full of health care professionals, had many insightful questions and comments to make in relation to chronic disease prevention, and the experience provided Georgie with valuable feedback in relation to the views held by professionals in the area of chronic disease prevention and management.

World Health Day is celebrated every year on the 7th of April to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the World Health Organisation. Each year World Health Day is conducted with a different theme, with this year’s theme being Ageing and Health. Chronic disease has a major impact on healthy ageing and Georgie’s previous experience in chronic disease as a registered nurse specialising in pre & post natal diabetes management was highly valued.
