The Liberal Nationals will ensure returned service men and women who are experiencing homelessness are provided with priority access to public housing.

The Andrews Labor Government has lost control of rising homelessness in Victoria and there are now more than 82,000 people languishing on the public housing wait list.

Sadly, many of Victoria's homeless population are veterans.

Victoria has a proud history of men and women serving within the Australian armed forces, but too many veterans return from serving overseas with significant health and mental health issues and find themselves in need of vital support services such as housing.

The Liberal Nationals are committed to ensuring those veterans who have risked their lives to serve our country are provided with the services and support they need.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Housing, Georgie Crozier:

"A Liberal Nationals government will ensure Victorian veterans who are homeless, are a top priority on the social and public housing lists so that they can be housed appropriately in stable accommodation."

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Veterans, Danny O'Brien:

"These men and women have served our country for us, and we should support them if they find themselves in the vulnerable situation of being homeless."
