Inaugural African Diaspora Women Summit in Melbourne
Written on the 26 June 2017
It was a great pleasure to be invited to speak at the Inaugural African Diaspora Women Summit in Melbourne recently.
The focus was on the contribution of African women to the Australian society from the perspective of the 380,000 African born Australians.
In Melbourne the largest African populations are from Sudan, Somalia Ethiopia and Mauritius but there are other African communities including South Africa, Cameroon, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
This summit enabled the discussion of shared experiences, failures and successes.
This was a platform for African Australian women and the results will provide a valuable resource for those who work with the African community in Victoria.
