International Day of People with Disability
Written on the 3 December 2013
Thousands of Australians recognised the 21st Anniversary of the International Day of People with Disability on December 3
I joined my friend and parliamentary colleague, the Parliamentary Secretary for Families and Community Services, Andrea Coote at GESAC where we supported Marriott Support Services, Scope and the Balloon Football team.
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote and support the dignity, rights and well-being of people with a disability.
This year marked a significant milestone – 21 years – and provided a good opportunity to reflect on the important achievements that have been made and acknowledge the contributions of Australians with disability.
The Victorian Coalition government is working to improve economic and social participation for people with disability.
