Living Victoria - First Grant goes to Albert Park (26.07.2013)
Written on the 26 July 2013
The first grant from the Living Victoria Fund will go to Albert Park Lake. I was pleased to join the Minister for Water, Peter Walsh; the Member for Prahran, Clem Newton-Brown and Liberal candidate for Melbourne Ports, Kevin Ekendahl when the Minister made the announcement. The $50 million fund is a key part of the Coalition Government’s agenda to reform the way in which Melbourne plans for and uses water.
A stormwater harvesting project at Albert Park Lake will receive $995,000 for a feasibility study, plan designs and site works. The project will put more water into Albert Park Lake, save 150 million litres of drinking water per year as well as saving an estimated $330,000 on water bills annually. The Living Victoria Fund allows the Coalition Government to partner with local councils, schools, community groups and private enterprise to implement projects to achieve our commitment to driving generational change for more effective water usage.
