PSOs on Elsternwick Station

Protective Service Officers (PSOs) are now at Elsternwick Station from 6pm until after the last train every night to deter violent offenders, neutralise conflict and to improve public safety. They commenced work on Tuesday, October 22.

The Victorian Coalition Government is delivering on its commitment to introduce PSOs to all metropolitan stations and major regional centres to protect commuters from crime, violence and anti-social behaviour.
I joined the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Kim Wells, Parliamentary colleagues Andrea Coote and David Southwick, PSOs and inspectors at Elsternwick Station to announce the latest Protective Service Officer deployment.

This announcement follows previous PSO deployments in Oakleigh, Clayton, Mount Waverley, Westall, Bentleigh, Springvale, Caulfield and Ormond. The roll out of PSOs continues with 433 deployed across 60 stations.
As a result, the general public are reporting feeling much safer on the metro system. We have seen huge acceptance and support for PSOs.
