Remembrance Day in Oakleigh

Remembrance Day in Oakleigh

The sacrifices that so many have made to protect the freedoms that we in this country hold so fiercely, were front of mind once again during Remembrance Day Services throughout Australia.

This year I attended the Oakleigh-Carnegie RSL Sub Branch Remembrance Day Service at the Oakleigh Cenotaph.

The service was a reminder of the great number of men who went to war, the nurses who served alongside them and the women and their families who were left behind.

I joined the former Commander in the Royal Navy, Colin Bostock, Glen Eira Councillor, Jamie Hyams, Sub-branch War Widows secretary, Verna Phillips and students from Oakleigh Grammar School to lay wreaths in remembrance.
