I was delighted to be able to represent the Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development Wendy Lovell to officially open and see firsthand the refurbishments recently undertaken at two Bayside City Council kindergartens following State Government grants.
The Olympic Avenue Kindergarten in Cheltenham received a grant of $200,000 as part of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Children’s Capital Program, together with a contribution of $35,000 from Bayside City Council and $45,000 contributed from hard working parents, teachers and friends. The refurbished Rainbow Room gives extra capacity enabling a cut to the waiting list for three year olds and an increasing of service hours for four year olds.
The Hampton Community Kindergarten in Myrtle Rd also received a $200,000 grant from the Children’s Capital Program to reconfigure a classroom and office space as well as install new decking for an outdoor/indoor setting - an enormous improvement on their previous structure.
