Second Anniversary of PSOs at railway stations
Written on the 28 February 2014
This February marks the two year anniversary of PSOs working on railway stations
I joined the Minister for Police and Emergency Services Kim Wells at Carnegie railway station for the induction of the latest group of new PSOs.
The Victorian Coalition government is on track to deliver on the commitment to recruit and deploy 940 PSOs to the rail network by November 2014 as part of a $212 million investment.
Patrolling from 6pm until the last train every night, community feedback overwhelmingly supports the presence of PSOs in making commuters feel safe when travelling.
This PSO recruitment drive combined with an additional recruitment of 1,700 frontline police officers represents the largest single law enforcement recruitment exercise in Victoria’s history.
