Upgrade to Charman Road, Cheltenham pedestrian crossings (19.5.2014)

Written on the 20 May 2014

Works are underway to upgrade the Cheltenham Station pedestrian crossings on either side of Charman Road. The upgrade will create safer and more accessible rail crossings, with automatic safety gates, emergency exit buttons, fencing and safety signage.

Project timing
The project is being carried out over two stages. Stage one works began at 10pm on Thursday 15 May. This involves upgrading the pedestrian crossing on the station side of the rail crossing. Stage two works began at 6am on Sunday 18 May and will continue until 6am on Monday 26 May. This work involves the upgrade of the pedestrian crossing over the rail crossing opposite the station.

Alternative crossings
During the works one pedestrian crossing on either side of Charman Road will be closed. Commuters are asked to use the open pedestrian crossing via the pedestrian crossing traffic lights located 50 metres south of the road crossing (opposite cemetery entrance) or 100 metres north of the crossing at Station Road.

Community information
As part of those works VicTrack is alerting commuters, businesses and the public on the planned stages of works and likely impacts. Information regarding project scope of works, likely impacts and alternative crossing information and maps is available at:
