World Diabetes Day 14 November

World Diabetes Day (WDD) is celebrated every year on 14 November to engage millions of people worldwide in diabetes advocacy and awareness.

Diabetes currently affects an estimated 1.7 million Australians.

Georgie understands the importance of diabetes care, education and awareness having specialised in diabetes management while previously working as a nurse and midwife.

In 2011 to draw attention to the Diabetes health crisis over 1000 iconic buildings across the world, including Melbourne’s new iconic landmark, AMMI Park will be lit in blue.

World Diabetes Day was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat that diabetes now poses.

Diabetes Australia – Victoria is holding a number of events to mark World Diabetes Day 2011. Please visit for more information.
