2015 COMPASSIONATE EMPLOYER RECOGNITION AWARD NOMINATIONs ARE NOW OPEN
Anyone can nominate an employer or a workplace that was caring or understanding during a time of loss. It can be one year or even ten years since a child passed away.

The annual recognition program, conducted by The Compassionate Friends Victoria Inc. - providing Mutual Support Self Help services to bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents - was initiated to acknowledge and highlight organisations that were going above and beyond standard workplace bereavement practices.
By recognising an organisation's supportive practices towards bereaved employees, the Awards program brings greater community awareness to grief and loss and the impact on employment and work. The Awards inspire and encourage organisations to review their current practices, and develop best practice in providing workplace bereavement support.
The Awards inspire and encourage organisations and workplaces to review their current practices, and provide best practice and practical examples of effective ways of incorporating bereavement support into the workplace.
This initiative is stimulating broad interest and discussion in the community and business on the issue of bereavement in the workplace, and the need for policies that ensure both care of the bereaved person and better outcomes for businesses.
This year, I had the pleasure of presenting the 2014 Compassionate Employer Recognition Awards and I will be involved again in 2015.
The purpose of the organisation is to offer friendship and understanding by reaching out to bereaved parents, to the surviving siblings and other family members to support them in the grief and trauma which follows the death of a child.
Since their inception in 2004, 134 Victorian organisations have been recognised for their outstanding support to their employee following the death of a loved one.
